Just got back from a wonderful vacay back home. Got to party like a rock star, see the fam and just hang out in good ol SF. It hasn't changed and SF will ALWAYS be the same with dumb beezing feeling insecure about themselves.. either seeing me on Haight St or Delirium. I laugh.. people know when Elena and I are together and out to cause a scene! Got to hang out with Stace and Elena.. miss those girls. Got to see Maryanne, the mother to be. I saw the boy that used to give me headaches in SF... It's always fun catching up and hanging him even though it was short and quickie*!
Miami Winter Music Conference Hoollllla - March 26-30! Gonna be off the hook. I get to relax with Michelle, Stace and Elena on the South Beaches of Miami for a couple days.. CAN'T WAIT!!
I'm on a trail period at Crunch Gym... I miss my 24 hour fitness membership.
Oh, and I joined facebook... yeah yeah..I gave in. I'm such a sucker but yummy gummy on the inside. I hope that doesn't sound nasty.

Only on the subway in NYC...
I was heading to Brooklyn and a bunch of kids jumped on the train with a boom box. They started rappin a bit and then after blasted some old school break dancing music on their boom box. I looked away and when I looked back I saw the kids break dancing and the cool part was that the train was crossing the bridge so they had a good 5-8 mins without the train stopping/people jumping on/off the train. It was definetly the most creative/entertaining way to make some cash on the train that i've seen so far.

Oh what a change...
Since you've last seen me, you'll notice that i lost the big ghetto gold earrings, the fabulous nails, crossed with the whole hipster look - that whole trashy classy look. It's probably because that look here is old and the only people still rocking that style are the girls who were rocking them since day one in the PJs. That look was soo 4 years ago. Or maybe it was never the "in" style since high fashion is all around. It's crazy how different SF is to NY. Or should I say, how far behind SF is from NY, style wise. I am loving the late 80's/early 90's look crossed with the bohemia style.. it's been around for a while. The greatest thing about NY compared to SF is that you get to change up your style for every season. Summer was great, who would've thought that I would wear Keds without socks.. in different colors or gladiators with fringe in different lengths. SF wouldn't allow you to get into those without freezing your little toe off. I got into cute skirts, tank tops, bras that have cute straps and backs. I was able to wear cute bikinis under lose tops.. oh the endless things you could wear during the hot NYC days. Then you get the ultimate extreme of winter. Winter here is fun because you get to wear cute long coats and accessorizes with cute scarves, puffy ear muffs, all kinds of hats, knitted barets, fancy gloves, colorful leg warmers under your boots, cute tights.. ohh all the fun I am having with shopping for NY's winter. It did get as cold as 25 degrees last week which was harsh. It fucking sucked when there was a cold front because that wind feels like 15 degrees and you either need a scarf or a nice coat that covers your mouth so that you can breath... Yup.. NY's winter!!
P.S. Patiently waiting for Top Shop to open to help add to my winter collection!!

Fashion Institute of Technology
So close yet so far. I'm waiting and waiting for my one year NY residency so that I can attend F.I.T without out of state fees. The fees for out of state is outragous and is almost triple the amount.. might as well go to Parsons if I am paying that much. Until then, I am am gonna take a few transferable classes at BMCC - Borough of Manhattan Community
I am gonna end this blog with these cute riding boots from Frye. Frye isn't my style but I hella want these boots. Perfect for the rainy/snowy weather in NYC - $350

The I in ME!
As the days go by, I am acknowledging that my life has always been about I and ME with the people and things that revolve around me. Did I get the I and Me syndrome from being the youngest sister of two older brothers and an an older sister or was it from being the younger of four in the eyes of two hard working parents that did everything to give us anything and everything? With all the broken hearts of my past, the last has definitely made me shield my feelings and heart to think and live in a world of ME where outsider can't hurt me. The I and ME might consists of being a bitch, mean, "too cool to care" attitude, or all of thee above. But under it all, there is just a girl holding tight to something she doesn't want to lose control of whether it be her self-control, feelings, or heart. How do you let go without losing control of whatever it is that I am holding on so tight of?
I am constantly on the search for something and that something will be yet defined when it comes.

Reissssssss
I LOVE REISS. Only if the fashion industry pays better I would be able to afford this gorgeous, sexy purple high waisted stretch pin skirt I saw the other day. I could not find it online anywhere but if you stop by a Reiss, keep an eye out for it.. it's a beauty that cost about $295. Here are a few SS09 skirts I found online. Reiss Madness is here for the season and the following seasons to come! I <3 REISS!

Rain Boots??
Yeah, I know! They are ugly and when I say ugly i mean ugg-layyyy! BUT you just need them in NY. When it rains, it fucking pours. The ground is exceptionally dirty because NY is just dirty. When it snows, it becomes worse, you get a mixture of slush and dirt = NY's winter. In other words, NY is FUCKING dirty so you have to try your best to not fuck up your nice stiletto/sneaker. I have been looking around and my next purchase will have to be these bad boy's.. Tretorn - it's as cute as rain boots can get. theY are also lines with fur to keep your toes cozy.

I never thought that I would be in this situation...
I was offer two incredible job opportunity. I'll just say one involves producing/designing sneakers for two mainstream hop hip rappers and the other is to produce/merchandise for.. I'll just call him Mr. AX. One pays well but the other pays even more. Each situation and position are completely different. The pro's and Con's are neck and neck. I do not know what to do. Here is a lil clue of who i'll be working with next:

The Real World is currently filming in Red Hook, Brooklyn for next season. I'll def agree that the real world has gone from HIV/gay rights and that asian chick going through Med-School (The Real World SF) to college sluts and jocks running around bars stirring up drama but hey, it's reality television trying to sell. I have heard nothing but horrible things about the real world filming in Red Hook and partying at Royal Oak in Williamsburg. If i could, i'd be on the real world if it's in Brooklyn or SF. I would not mind living in a hella nice ass pad rent free, work cool/interesting jobs that could benefit with future jobs (or fuck it all up depending on how you act) and traveling on the expense of MTV. Even the hipsters, who are hating on the new cast would most likely be on the Real World... don't lie!!

Love for the BAY!!
But I just gotta keep my mind straight that it's all about the fashion shit here!!
When I see the street signs of Fillmore and Grove in this video, I get goosebumps. New York is cool but it's just like they say, you can take a girl out of the bay but you can't take the bay out of the girl! When I hear this song, I wanna like up a blunt and pour out a little of highlife or mickey's out to SF!!

Stressed out...
I need to roll a blunt.. the process of it all helps calm my nerves, from emptying the tobacco to just smoking it!! Grape swishers are oh so yummy!!

2008 NEW YORK FASHION WEEK AND 30 DAYS OF FASHION
MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK: SEPT 5-12TH
30 DAYS OF FASHION: EVERYDAY IN SEPTEMBER
So, anyone and everyone in the fashion industry are all running around trying to handle their shit for fashion week. I know for sure that Phi has set aside the design/business and has put all focus on our 2008 FASHION WEEK fashion show! Phi isn't going to be featured in the Mercedes Benz tent at Byrant Park, but the show will be somewhere else in the city. If you are not familiar with Fashion week, there can only be 10 different american designers a day starting the 5th and ending on the 12th, which mean only the top 50-60 designers get to show in the tent at Bryant Park. Hopefully I'll get tickets to attend a show in the tent.. cannot wait! For all the other designers that do not show in the tent, there will be other venues and set-up throughout the city that'll feature the other top fashion designers that were not asked to show in the tent. It is a must you try to go to a show somewhere in the city because it's going to be everywhere and it's the major event of the year!! Look on style.com for the lastest fashion shows from 2008 fall and resort collection from most popular designer at the moment. Don't forget to check out Phi's Resort Collection!!!
As for 30 days in fashion, there will be 30 days of industry events in major cities. Check out the calender for the upcoming events in your city. I like to go to these parties to pre-drink the fancy stuff, eat all the good apps and the free swag bags with lots of nice expensive things. These events usually end early enough to head to your type of bars!!

Gladiators - Love them or hate them??
Tuesday, August 12, 2008
Sigh*
Someone is gonna be in NY in a few days. Not sure if it would be a wise idea to see him. I hate it when we text each other and he says he misses me. I don't wanna hear it.

ESCA - Hell's Kitchen (Yelp)
Esca, delish Italian Seafood - One of Mario Batali's restaurants in NYC with Dave Patternack as head chef. The place is small but the out door garden seating is adorable. You should also try Otto's downtown, which is also a Mario Batali's restaurant but a lot cheaper!

Keds vs. Vans

Vans are pretty stiff and rough on the sole of my feet without socks on. It can get pretty gross and sweaty with all the walking i do here in NY
Keds, on the other had, are lined in terry cloth through out the in-sole and shoe plus the canvas is much softer. It's a lot less rough on my feet and pedicure. They also come in more colors and are $5 cheaper! I used to wear keds when I was a little one and I love wearing them now in the hot hot NY weather.
Vans might be more popular because of the brand name but aesthetically, Keds come in more colors and and are designed in a way to absorb the sweat of your nasty ass feet. So before you wear your Vans, make sure you wear some socks... sweaty ass feet.. gross!!!!!

Apt hunting...
For the amount that I am looking to pay, I could get a one bedroom in SF.. a HUGE one bedroom in SF! NY's rent is crazy and i want to say that minimum wage is less than SF, i think. It just doesn't make any sense. Just like the liquor/beer situation here. Or how people just throw out their trash on the street. NY is crazy.. just like me AND I LOVE IT.. But I still miss SF! It just isn't the same without my family and girls!
XOXO

"Holly" - Film Premiere to Benefit Human Trafficking Hosted by Petra Nemcova
Michael Kamber - Photojournalist
I came across this photographer named Michael Kamber, who is a freelance photojournalist that went to Parsons school of design. He is a war photographer that has captured photos of some crazy ass shit. His photos gave me goosebumps because it actually shows the reality of the wars and conflicts through out the world that are not shown on TV. Check out his photos... it's really intense. http://www.kamberphoto.com/

SUNDAY'S...
I am starting to feel somewhat at home... found a good burger place, two for one bacon cheese burger with fries in LES but the burgers are not quite as good as Zeitgeist's burgers though and found a park in Williamsburg very similar to Delores but not quiet as beautiful! But all in all, there is no place like home!!

HOME...
I miss it so much. NYC is really not all that after living here for about a month and a half. I had everything back in the bay and everything was pretty much simple there but the only thing missing in SF was fashion! I mean, there is somewhat of a fashion scene in SF and a lot of shopping area, but I would not get caught dead being a shop girl! Sorry to all those who love working in a shop, it just not isn't for me. I am blessed to have found a dope ass job at Phi doing their PR/Marketing. I have sent out looks to magazine companies Vogue Japan, German Vogue, Vanity Fair, Haper's Bazaar, etc. I have also sent out looks to Selma Blair and Amber Tamblyn for the red carpet. I am also looking forward in being involved with Fashion Week in September. Phi's is look is kind of a high fashion rocker/biker girl grunge. My work days are about 10 hours days but it's nothing because I love my job that much. Some might think that 10 hours is a lot, but it is actually normal here. It seems as if 10 hour work days are normal for most people. NY's mentality is, "always on the hustle" or as I have heard a few different times from different people, "I'll sleep when I am died!"
I sometimes think about coming back to the bay but I know I need to give myself some time. I def need to make it back to the bay to see everyone and pick up the rest of my clothes asap. I only came with a suitcase and a carry-on. I miss all my stuff, I miss my huge room in SF, I miss my girls, I miss my family, I miss baby Noah, I miss a lot of things in SF but my passion is here in NY and the possibilities for fashion in New York are endless!!
XOXO
